How we source prices

BuildRate publishes indicative retail prices for construction materials in 30 major Indian cities. Every number on this site is entered manually by our team — we do not scrape merchant websites, and we do not republish opaque industry indices.

Sources

• Direct quotations from at least two local merchants per city, taken weekly.
• Public price boards from major brands (UltraTech, ACC, Tata Tiscon, JSW Neosteel) where available.
• Field check by an on-the-ground volunteer for cities outside metro centres.

Units & rounding

• Cement is quoted per 50 kg bag.
• Sand and aggregate are quoted per cubic foot.
• TMT iron rods are quoted per kg (loose retail pricing varies by diameter).
• Bricks are quoted per 1,000 pieces.
• Prices are rounded to the nearest rupee. GST is excluded unless noted.
